Julia is a well-known live performer, songwriter, and recording artist who enjoys performing material from a variety of genres. Her earliest passions, however, are jazz and blues, and her sound and approach are highly influenced by classic musicians such as Eva Cassidy, Natalie Cole, Nina Simone, and Norah Jones. Julia has performed at nearly every live music and corporate venue in the Gauteng area, and she was honoured to be a part of the 2007 Joy of Jazz Festival. Eskom, Sasol, Microsoft, Coca-Cola International, Massmart Holdings, Porsche South Africa, and Nedbank are among her prior corporate clients.
Phol's performing style is classical jazz with soul and flavours of gospel, funk, and R&B. He has performed with some of the most exciting jazz and gospel groups in the Cape and Gauteng regions, bringing energy, inventiveness, and a distinct flair to each performance. He writes, records in the studio, and performs with a variety of jazz and gospel acts while he is not studying for his degree in Music Theory at UNISA.
Anthony has shared the stage with a wide range of artists, from successful rock bands like Mean Mr. Mustard to top South African jazz musicians like Judith Sephuma and Simphiwe Dana. He has also previously taught aspiring bass players at Damelin College, operates his own successful Johannesburg-based production firm, Pure Tone Productions, and has considerable session experience in Cape Town and Johannesburg studios. Anthony's interest is strongly anchored in jazz and blues, and his exceptional talent and experience form a vital element of the group's sound and character.
Throughout his 25-year career in the local entertainment scene, Esra Isaacs has enjoyed playing at major festivals, corporate events, and television shows. His accomplishments include appearances on E-TV's "Back Stage" and performing for millions during the 2010 FIFA opening and closing ceremonies as drummer for the local outfit Steady Rock. This charming personality also operates Jazz and More, an artist booking and event production company, while continuing to grace stages across the country as a superb drummer and percussionist.
The band has performed at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Hilton Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Emperor's Palace Hotel, Summer Place, The Houghton Golf Club, The Pretoria Golf Club, Hyatt Hotel, Le Wine Chambre, Riboville Hotel, and a variety of other prominent sites and venues across Gauteng. They also had a two-year run at Katzy's in Rosebank, which is regarded as one of the top live music venues in Gauteng. Furthermore, at the end of 2010, the quartet had the honour of entertaining the crème of South Africa's business community at the Sunday Times 100 Top Company Awards, which were hosted at Johannesburg City Hall. During the last nine years, the group has added Veuve Clicquot, Laurent Perrier, TCTA, Telkom, Sanlam, Standard Bank, Transaction Capital, NBC, Citigroup, Murray & Roberts, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyer Inc, African Aviation, Redefine Properties, Hollard Life, NERSA, SHF, Human Sciences Research Council, SAGRA (SouthAfrican Graduate Recruiters Association), National Health Laboratory Service, Travel With Flair, Marriott International,
I didn't get to thank Julia and her team for their great entertainment at the SAGRA Conference Award Dinner on November 28th since I was scurrying around like an organiser and missed them. Please reach out and thank them - it was a fantastic evening that I thoroughly enjoyed. We will absolutely keep them in mind for our 2015 gig!
