News and Current Affairs anchor at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Currently Co-Host of The Globe. 

 

● Tšepiso Makwetla is a journalist and broadcaster of more than 25 years, of which 21 years have been at the South African Broadcasting Corporation in the role of Newsreader/writer; Bulletin Editor; Producer and Radio and Television Anchor. She’s experienced in leading live reporting and presenting on national and international news and current affairs, extensively covering topics across the board on social-economic; political and entertainment issues. She’s distinguished herself covering issues across sectors even garnering awards (MTN news and Current Affairs; MTN Yellow Roses; Azwi Development Trust; and Mail and Guardian Top 100 and Top 200 Young Achievers) and recognition both locally and internationally. She is also an IVLP Edward Murrow Leadership in Journalism alumnae 2018. This prestigious award is given to fewer than 20 journalists  around the world every year.

● WHO Africa Covid19 Media Conference Moderator (2020);

● International UHCC2030-PMNCH Summit (2020) discussions focused on the need for inclusive and participatory governance in health;

● (2017) World Bank and WHO Public Launch of Universal Health Coverage Day in Tokyo;

● Moderating at the high-level conference of the African Union on democracy and constitution making, Dakar, 
Senegal; AU High Level Heads of State Summit Pretoria, South Africa
 (2017);

● Co-host Women Deliver International Conference – Copenhagen, Denmark 2015;


● Guest speaker and facilitator the International youth conference on Elections in Abuja (2014) where she was both a facilitator and 
International Speaker;


● Facilitator at the UN Partner’s Forum in Johannesburg (2014);

● International Monetary Fund in Washington (I was roped in to help launch their youth dialogue at their Annual Summit in 2010);

● International Parliamentary Union at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva Switzerland – requested to facilitate a three-hour live television panel discussion on the attainment of MDG goals with more than 100 parliamentarians from all over the world (2008); 

● Including many more, like the International launch of the movie Long Walk to Freedom; The Mapungubwe Annual Lecture 2020; and the launch of the publication of a book titled  “Values, Interests and Power: South African foreign policy in uncertain times” 2020; Book  Launch – The President’s 2022.

 

 

Tšepiso has also been an  Election Observer for EISA in Egypt and Mozambique; Delivering a presentation to the Zimbabwean Parliamentary  Committee on Media and Information and Broadcasting Services on the role of the media in electoral processes and democracy in 2021; covered elections in various countries including the DRC; Zimbabwe; Ghana and of course every democratic election in South Africa except the 1994 poll.

 

 

She is also passionate about Maternal, New-born, Child Health and Adolescent rights. Tšepiso is strong proponent of reporting on South African and African Socio-Economic Developmental and Global issues.
