Interactive Gumboot Dancing
Gauteng
Gumboot dancing developed in Johannesburg's gold mines, down within the shafts. To distract themselves from the long perilous hours beneath the ground and to operate as a team, the miners used the noises of stepping together, smacking their boots, clapping their hands, and dancing together to create a gumboot dance pattern.
Each delegate is dressed in an overall and a pair of gumboots with bottle top shakers, in genuine miners' style. Our trained facilitators will teach you a few fundamental dance steps that will establish a ""gumboot dance routine,"" and your delegates will be dancing as a team within minutes.
