South African Tenors
Gauteng
The South African Tenors are Simangaliso Thango, Sandile Sikhosana, and Luvuyo Situmane. In 2018, they took part in an SKAI TV talent programme called 'ELLADA EHEIS TALENTO,' which translates as "Greece Got Talent."
During their "A Tribute to the Three Tenors" summer tour in Greece, they were recognised by a television producer, who invited the singers to audition for the show. After their huge break in the competition, the trio performed for various private clients in Europe and was also invited by South African embassies to perform throughout Europe.
Thango Simangaliso
Simangaliso was born and raised in the small village of Kwa-Nongoma before moving to Richards Bay, where he began his musical career in a school chorus. Simangaliso went on to study music at Tshwane University of Technology, where he received the Cum Laude for his Bachelor of Music. He also has an Honours Degree in Arts, Culture, and Heritage Management from the University of the Witwatersrand. Simangaliso is now doing his MA (Master of Arts) in Cultural Policy under the tutelage of Ms Avril Joffe.
Sikhosana, Sandile
Sandile Sikhosana was born in Ladysmith, Kwazulu Natal, and began singing when he was ten years old. He proceeded to the University of Cape Town to study performers' diploma in opera with Professor Kamal Khan and Mr Patrick Tikolo. From 2009 to 2015, he was involved in various shows at UCT Opera School and Cape Town Opera. Sandile has been touring Europe with the Cape Town Opera's 'African Angels' production. Sandile made his international debut as a tenor in 2016 at the Dubai Opera House and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, playing Makhanda in Mandela trilogy. He is currently working as a freelancer for Remarc International, an entertainment firm situated in Athens, Greece.
Situmane, Luvuyo Luvuyo
Luvuyo was born in Butterworth and raised in Komga, South Africa's Eastern Cape. Professionally an electrical engineer, Luvuyo received rigorous classical vocal training from Mrs Gwyneth Loyd and Mkhululi Milisi (both of the University of Forthare) and has performed with the East Cape Opera Company. He has been a member of many choirs since he was a child, and while music has always shaped and defined his youth, his remarkable achievements began in 2014.
He appeared with the Cape Town Opera as an ADHO member at Arts Cape Theatre, performing Credo, a work by Bongani Ndodana. He then began his operatic career with the University of Stuttgart Orchestra, a guest ensemble to the University of Forthare Music Department and Nelson Mandela Metro University, where he played Alfred in Johann Strauss' opera Die Fledermaus.
