Gus Brown Band

Gus Brown is a terrific Warner Beach five-piece band. Their mix of folk funky original music (and some unexpected cover songs) has helped them establish themselves on the local music scene; they've also played a few big KZN music festivals and opened for Prime Circle in Cape Town, Jeremy Loops in Durban, and Mi Casa in Johannesburg.

While improvising around a fire in 2012, guitar-playing brothers Dale and Nick met lead singer Gavin.

Dale and Nick, by chance, preferred jamming guitar to singing, whereas Gavin liked singing to playing guitar... So, with Dale's original song catalogue already in hand... A band was formed on Gus Brown Road.Apart from the three founding members, the band has had a few line-up changes over the years, with the powerhouse bass and drum twin combo of Barry and Ryan de Beer leaving to join a new project, but Gus Brown have recently had the good fortune of welcoming two phenomenally talented musicians join the band.Both are exceptional multi-instrumentalists. Chad Porter on bass can belt out Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" like Freddie Mercury, while Brett Kenton on drums completes this incredible rhythm section. Brett possesses exceptional percussion abilities, as well as guitar, vocals, Jewish harp, and xylophone!Gus Brown combines all of the wonderful traits of a dysfunctional yet thumping folk funk family.
