Jozi Jazz
Gauteng
Laurie Levine, a South African Music Award (SAMA) nominee, and Thabang Noosi, a world-class jazz guitarist, collaborate to provide a distinctive acoustic backdrop to any special occasion or gathering. The Jozi jazz duet, armed with two guitars and a sensitive vocal interpretation of timeless swing-jazz classics and African jazz standards, endears listeners with its nuanced and deep sound.
Their set list is comprised of carefully chosen jazz standards ranging from well-known atmospheric ballads like 'autumn leaves' and 'njilo njilo' to foot-tapping up-tempo favourites like 'cheek to cheek' and 'All of me'. Noosi's talented and flexible guitar playing has led to collaborations with artists like as Gloria Bosman, Louis Mhlanga, and Moses Khumalo.
Laurie frequently performs in and around South Africa, as well as overseas. She has performed in New York's legendary CBGB's, as well as opening for Rodriguez at London's Forum and Joe Jackon at Montecasino's Teatro.
The duo was honoured to be invited to perform at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, a few years ago. Other notable appearances include those for Cricket South Africa, Graca Machel, and Vodacom, among others. They've performed at a wide range of occasions, including private parties, weddings, and corporate functions.
This refined pair is great for easy-listening background music at any event.
