Lloyd Cele's much publicised journey to success has not only been an inspiration to millions of South Africans; it has launched a hot and popular new talent which has been fully embraced by the South African entertainment industry and public alike. This passionate musician stormed onto the music scene during 2010's MNet Idols, where he was announced overall runner-up to Elvis Blue in a riveting finale, which saw the two popular singers share the prize money in a gesture of friendship. The whirlwind that followed culminated in the release of Cele's debut album "One" in March 2011, which was co-produced by R&B superstar Loyiso Bala (who also recorded a duet with Cele, "Thando", for the album) and the SAMA-winning Crighton Goodwill. The album showcases diverse musical genres including rock, R&B, Urban, Hip Hop and Reggae, brought together by a strong inspirational theme which, throughout the album, encourages fans to believe in, and hold onto their dreams. Lloyd, who has been passionate about music and singing all his life, is also a self-taught instrumentalist who plays the guitar, keyboard and saxophone. Before Idols, he was the worship director at his church and also a youth leader at Eagles Community Fellowship which equips young people to be effective members and leaders within their communities.
Cele, whose diary has been filled with an array of concerts, festivals, corporate events and private functions since Idols, maintains that the most important aspect of his stardom is the connection with his fans, which he values greatly.
