Maxine Ceasar Jazz Band
Western Cape
Maxine Ceasar is a singer/songwriter from South Africa. Music was an obvious path to pursue having grown up in a prolific musical family. Her father Richard Ceasar ,a well known jazz artist exposed her and her brother to the music industry from a young age. Her vocal abilities span the genres of jazz, soul, pop and R&B and have taken her around the world performing on The Regent Seven Seas Mariner as the resident duo with her brother , Vaughan. Through out her 8 year career Cape Town has been good to her. She has worked alongside many well known artists in South Africa. She has performed on stages every artist dreams of and has rendered her smooth voice to festivals, theatre productions, corporate functions, and has even been the soft ,background musician at a hotel restaurant.
The now 31 year old released her first single internationally in 2018. It has a futuristic sound which is different to anything she’s written before but life experiences are interwoven in her music and that has challenged her to not box herself as we’re ever changing and evolving. Although singing is her first love, writing snd composing is right up there with it. Besides writing her own music she has written and composed the music for multiple productions. Two of which were award winning - Tip-ex won Best Production and Best Script at the 2016 Baxter Zabalaza Festival. She also had a song featured in 2 Thirds of a man, a movie which won multiple Film Festival awards in 2022.
