NEW VINTAGE is made up of the following members:

Ismail, Avzal: Keyboards

Drummer Nicholas McReadie / D

Andrew "Rixi" Roman plays the bass.

El Nino Ntsoko: Saxophone

Vocalists vary based on the function and availability, although Lee Ann Fortuin, Hannah Foster, or Cat Hanson are commonly used.

We take a two-pronged approach to any function, where the band provides superb live jazz while the patrons enjoy dinner, and then when they are ready, our drummer, who is also a superb DJ, takes over the party and spins the discs while also playing sax and percussion...as shown in the show.

You won't find a finer lineup anywhere. They've spent the last two years preparing and perfecting their act, and wherever they go, they create a big impression. The trio with piano, bass, and drums features three of the country's top musicians in a classic jazz setting, covering everything from standards to amazing fusion and latin jazz.

Avzal is an internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and educator who has worked with Grammy winners Regina Carter, Donald Harrison, and Carl Anderson, as well as Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, members of the David Foster Band, the Brazilian band Nova Sol, and just about anyone else in South Africa. He has also led the outstanding Light Years band for the past 26 years, alongside Neill Ettridge and Denny Lalouette.

With new young energy and a new attitude, the new band is just as thrilling, if not more so. Avzal, who has recently returned to South Africa after spending the most of the last decade overseas, is also one of the world's most respected and experienced performers. Certainly deserving of any stage, anywhere.
