The Velvet Violins are a South African string quartet known for their bespoke arrangements that reimagine iconic South African and international songs in the signature “Bridgerton” style. Their music is arranged by award-winning violinist + composer Naomi Tagg, reimagining favourite songs with elegance, cinematic flair and a modern touch.

Rooted in South African musical heritage and inspired by the global pop and film landscape, the quartet transforms everything from beloved local anthems to modern chart hits into refined string arrangements that feel both nostalgic and new.Their work has featured internationally, including music heard on HBO’s The Great and Disney’s Tell Me Lies.

In South Africa, they were the musical force behind Netflix’s Bridgerton Season 4 campaign, providing the soundtrack piece for the national campaign (Liquideep’s Fairytale) and appearing as the featured quartet at launch events across the country. These four ladies are formally trained in the classics, but far more likely to play Beyoncé than Bach (unless you ask nicely).
