Mzansi Gay Choir
Gauteng
The Mzansi Gay choir is a product of the Feather Awards and was founded in 2016, with the purpose to inspire and educate Africans at large about inclusivity, diversity and the true essence of the LGBTQI community. The aim of the choir is to spread a message of self-acceptance, freedom and love. Which is the central theme in their lead singles: ‘I’m on my way’ and ‘Let me be’
produced by Brenda Mtambo. Based in Johannesburg the choir consists of 10 Queer activists/singers from different Provinces around South Africa. After a long road full of challenges and some victories, the choir continues to break boundaries as the first gay choir in Africa and will keep raising the LGBTIQ flag higher as the fight to be heard.
