In April 2017 the choir performed at the International Youth Choir Festival at the Royal Albert Hall, London. The Mzansi Youth Choir was the only choir from the African continent to be selected to perform at this prestigious global event.
During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the choir shared the stage with Columbian superstar Shakira and local band Freshly Ground for the performance of the official World Cup song ‘WakaWaka’ at the Kick-Off Concert as well as the World Cup Final.
Mzansi’s beautiful, youthful sound, exciting choreography, pulsating energy, buoyancy, vibrancy and devotion to South African music is an experience not to be missed.
“ALL THIS WAS ECLIPSED BY THE MZANSI YOUTH CHOIR. TO SAY I WAS BOWLED OVER BY THE MUSICAL QUALITIES OF THESE TEENAGE SINGERS – SUPERB INTONATION, RHYTHMIC PRECISION, SOFTY BLENDING BASSES, SPARKY, EXUBERANT SOPRANOS – WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT.”– THE TIMES, LONDON, U.K.
“HOOK INTO THE MZANSI YOUTH CHOIR AND YOU COULD LIGHT UP A SUBURB.”– ARTSLINK“THE MZANSI YOUTH CHOIR STOLE THE SHOW DURING LAST WEEK’S IDOLS EPISODE. EVEN HARD-TO-PLEASE RANDALL ABRAHAMS GAVE THEM THE THUMBS-UP, SAYING ‘THEY WERE DYNAMIC, TOGETHER AND ENERGISED.”
