DJ Shorty

The Mixmeister, Shane Short formally known as DJ Shorty, is slowly becoming a common household name. Born and raised in the South of Johannesburg, Shorty has been maintaining an exciting 15 years and counting career. He has mastered the ability to branch out and play a variety of musical genres during his sets ranging from Hip-Hop, RnB, Commercial House, Deep House, Amapiano, Kwaito, old school, you name it, he plays it. This all-rounded skill has made Shorty different from other DJs and his uniqueness has caught the attention of many music lovers, promoters, event hosts and radio personalities.

Having performed at one his biggest gigs in 2014, DJ Shorty was a name amongst 50 of South Africa’s biggest artists, including the likes of DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Kent, and Black Coffee etc. at The Ekurhuleni SpringFiesta, hosted by Soul Candi Records in partnership with SABC 1. This platform has taken his DJ career to another level and proves that when starting from humble beginnings and following your dreams, anything is possible.

DJ Shorty has now landed many corporate gigs such as weddings, company functions (Liberty, Investec, various companies), parties and events of a higher magnitude also performing on live televisions E-TV Sunrise morning show.

This has seen DJ Shorty not only grow largely in the corporate world by landing himself regular guest DJ spots at Johannesburg’s hottest venues, but also many radio features from stations such as Tshwane FM and Kofifi FM, to having a Guest DJ slot on the 947 MixAt6 with DJ fresh (2020) , regular guest DJ spot on 5FM’s Starting from Scratch with Ryan the DJ (2021) and now holds a resident DJ mix spot on South Africa’s award-winning breakfast show “The Take Off”, now known as “The Morning Buzz” on Radio 2000 where you can catch DJ Shorty regularly in the mix.
