Vilia Dube

LV Hunnay! Formally known as Vilia Lindiwe Dube is an emerging media personality destined to dominate airwaves, stages, and screens. Aspiring to be the voice, the presence, and the energy you can’t ignore, Vilia has been on a mission to thrive in spaces where energy meets authenticity. Confident that there is no other like her, even by just the name she has, Ms Dube is setting out a path in building a personal brand of versatility, self- development, confidence, connection and charisma.

From a young age Vilia had always felt different about her identity in the world and this came with being raised in two cultural homes of Xhosa (Father) and Shona (Mother). After settling, her parents brought her back to South Africa when she was 8, after the majority of her foundation phase being in Zimbabwe. It was that shift that ignited her into a whole new world of who and what she wanted to be and she could feel it wasn’t just ordinary.  It was through bonding over ‘African movies’ with her stay at home mom that had Vilia inquisitive about what it took to act and tell stories she saw on TV. In most of her solitude as a child, Vilia says she found herself loving to act out different characters in the mirror. At some point this dream was ignored with the fear that no one in her family embarked on a career outside your 9-5 norm, with her parents having expectations of her becoming a corporate worker.

Fast forward to negotiating with her parents that the only way she’d go to university was if they allowed her to study drama in 2020. Vilia now holds a degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University where she also specialised in Drama Theatre. It was here that her dreams of being in the entertainment industry became a confirmation. From her second year, Vilia challenged the norm by putting herself out to host campus activations and events and connect with others through student affairs. She became part of their campus radio, RMR (Rhodes Music Radio) where her love for the mic became a euphoria.
