Wian Joubert - Drums and Percussion

Wian Joubert is the rhythmic heartbeat of Blue Note Lab, bringing energy and soulful precision to the beats of the band.

Wian is a professional freelance and session drummer and percussionist who graduated Cum Laude on his instrument. He conducts and arranges music for numerous percussion and marimba ensembles.

Gert Rautenbach - Guitars

Gert Rautenbach is the music director and master arranger for Blue Note Lab and he shapes the band’s distinctive sound with his exceptional talent

and experience.

An accomplished guitarist, composer, and educator, Gert holds a National Diploma in Music from Tshwane University of Technology, specializing in jazz guitar, composition, and arranging.

Thomas Ackermann - Bass

Thomas Ackermann is a skilled bassist and performer with over two decades of experience in jazz and contemporary music.

Following his formal musical training at an early age, , Thomas picked up the bass guitar and never looked back. His background gives his performance a unique mix of precision and free flowing expression.

Thomas has performed at major events and festivals, including the KKNK and as session

musician at recent youth development festivals.
