Lobela - Saxophonist
LOBELA, Tseke Malatji hails from Seshego a township outside Polokwane, at the tender age of 15, he moved to Johannesburg to further his music studies. He attended school at the Music Academy of Gauteng under the recruitment of Dr Johnny Mekoa where he studied jazz saxophone and electric bass guitar.
He masters his craft in woodwind instruments as his first instrument of study and electric bass guitar as second instrument he managed to sit in the Gauteng Jazz Orchestra for three years. He went on to further his music career and enrolled at the University of Cape Town and graduated a Jazz studies program.
Over the past few years with his experience as a multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/performer he has been part of many celebrated jazz festivals such as, Joy of jazz festival, Cape-town international jazz festival and the All Afrika jazz festival in Germany as a side man with artist like Lira, The Muffinz, Selaelo Selota,Gloria Bosman,Lwanda Gogwana,Monde Musutwana,Frank Paco(Moz),Adamo Da Silver(Cameroon),Frank Biyong(France) and many more artists,TS LOBELA is one of the contributing members of the SAMA award-winning contemporary jazz band, Ological Studies.
He now resides in Johannesburg, and continues to work with professional artists and groups/bands around the world and country. He is now in pursuit of his solo career as an instrumentalist and Producer with his African jazz bass playing and his unique distinctive saxophone sound that continues to serenade his audience.
