Skwara on Sax

Born in Umtata in the eastern cape, Kwande grew up on a musical family which played a huge role in the musician he is today. 

A music graduate from NMMU, he also sings bass for the 2022 Grammy nominated vocal group called Just 6, he plays the piano and the guitar and in recent years started playing the saxophone and is more affectionately known as Skwara On Sax.

His inspiration to start playing is Kirk Whalum. Skwara on sax also got introduced to other great saxophone players such as Miles Davis, Michael Breeker, George Garzon, Braxton Cook, James Carter, Joshua Redman to name a few. This pushed him learn most of the things that he knows today himself through the internet and shedding with some close friends. Skwara on Sax continues to push his limits to become the one of the greatest saxophonists in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, Africa and the World.
