He then asked me if I would like to play the guitar and I received my first lesson on that day says Timothy”. After grasping the basics of the guitar, he then began his music career by performing at various restaurants in Cape Town. THE RISE Timothy’s turning point came after a guest spot performance at a restaurant in Cape Town, when he was spotted by a music producer and was booked into the recording studio soon thereafter. Timothy recorded his debut EP, “Hazy Days”, which was released on 5 December 2015. He describes his EP as: “expressing myself through my music. It is about my emotions put into songs. It is about what I love most: the people in my life, life experiences and the things I enjoy most in life.”In 2016, whilst still in high school, Timothy was signed to David Gresham Records and spent the year writing and recording demo’s which would form the start of his professional recording career. REACHING FOR MORE He released his debut single “Everyday” on 3 April 2017, which became an instant hit on most of our local radio stations. The hit single was on the 5FM Top10 Pop Chart for 18 weeks. The release of “Start A Fire” on 12 May 2017 and “On Our Own” on 19 May 2017 followed suit. “I Never Want To See Her” was released on 24 July 2017, debuting on Jacaranda SA Top 20 on 6 August 2017 and remained on the chart for 14 weeks. It was No 1 for eight weeks on the 5FM Top 10 Pop Chart and remained there for 18 weeks. “No Stress Moment” was released on 18 June 2018 and is described by Timothy as no matter how much stress is being shoved his way, he will do his best and succeed, and “I’ll live life for the moment”. At 10 he started taking music lessons from a local music school in Soweto, Welcome Soweto School of Music (Wessom).At 13 he attended his 1st Miagi camp under Wessom where he met other young classical musicians from Pretoria,Bloemfontein, Cape Town and other parts of the country. At 14 he went to Holy Family College where he met some members of the Buskaid Ensemble then later that year with a rising interest in classical music he enrolled to the National School of the Arts where he met and took lessons with Maria Branco. While there he completed his Abrsm grades 5,6,7 & 8. During his academic grade 10 he took extra lessons with Caius Opera. Zos then applied and successfully played for the Eisteddfod’s, Phillip Moore competition, Roedean Music Competition, Grahamstown Music Competition & the NSA music competition with the support and accompaniment of his teacher Sonja Van Zyl on the Piano. He also appeared as soloist with the JPO in 2009 in their Concerto festival playing Vivaldi’s: L’estate. While at NSA he played for the JPO Academy underSonja Bass which he joined after Matric at 19 and took lessons with Miro Chakaryan. In 2012 he joined the Gauteng Camerata under Kutlwano Masote where he played with other budding young musicians. In 2014 he joined the KZNPO’s Cadetship program. He then appeared as soloist with the KZNPO in 2015 playing the 1st mvt of Mendelssohn’s violin concerto as part of their Young performers concert. With the KZNPO he played at the Grahamstown Arts festival, recorded for a Wouter Kellerman album & performed in their WSS Concert’s. In 2017 he returned to Joburg & freelanced as a violinist & tutor.Some notable artist’s & project’s he’s worked with include his Recital at the Auto & general Theatre at the Nelson Mandela Square with Sonja Van Zyl in 2017,Web Maestro’s MTN Opera Jewels, playing as a soloist for ‘Narative Dreams’ a play at the Market theatre & Umculo’s St.John’s Passion & Romeo’s Passion, Simphiwe Dana’s 2011 LyricTheatre DVD & the Simphiwe Dana Experience DVD in 2019, Msaki’s live performances & an album recording & many more. With over 15 years of musical performance experience Themba Maseko, Thabiso Masemene and Simangaliso Thango form part of this magical trio that comes with different vocal timbres to create a magnificent harmonic melody that has won the hearts of many audiences. The group has made moves in the local and international opera, classical and musical theater scenes and have only just touched the surface. THABISO MASEMENE: started his formal voice training in 2004 with Mr Pierre du Toit with the Tshwane University of Technology. In 2005 he joined the Black Tie Ensemble where in the same year he understudied three roles by Donizetti, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Ernesto in Don Pasquale and Renuccio in Gianni Schischi by Puccini; in 2006 he played his professional debut at The South African State Theatre performing, Beppe in I Pagliaci by Leoncavallo. Thabiso is also part of a successful group called the Gaabo- motho Tenors and has travelled to Germany and Uganda, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Nigeria. In 2007 he went back to study at Tshwane University of Technology and graduated Cum Laude in his National Diploma certificate, then completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 2009. As he was still with the University he played Nemorino in L’Elisir d’amore, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte and Story Teller in Ntsikana by Henning Wargner. Sacred music performances are Obajah in Elijah and Mozart Requiem. In 2010 he went to Germany to sing in an international festival called Schelswig Holstein Music Festival. THEMBA MASEKO: a PHD candidate of musicology born and raised in Sebokeng Vaal, Gauteng. He obtained his Master of Arts in music at University of Fort Hare in 2022 .He obtained his BMus Honors in Performing Arts at University of Pretoria and his first degree, BTech Degree in Pedagogy at Tshwane University of Technology. His professional experience started as a Vocal Technique Lecturer at the University of Pretoria in 2014 to 2017 then moved to work as a Vocal Technique Lecturer at Tshwane University of Technology in 2017 and in 2022. He worked at The National School of Arts from 2015 to 2022 as a voice teacher. His theatre experience includes being a music director for Broadway on Mele production in 2021 and 2022 under The National School of Arts. Gibson Kente’s Too Late production produced by Johannesburg theatre in 2018. As a performer he specialized in Mozart’s operas and played the role of Tamino in The Magic Flute production by German Rhine Philharmonic orchestra at Joburg theatre 2016, in the University of Technology opera production, 2014 and also a production by William Kentridge in 2007. SIMANGALISO THANGO: Simangaliso Thango was born and bred in a small town called Kwa-Nongoma and later moved to Richards Bay where he formally began his musical journey in a school choir as a tenor soloist. He further went on studying music at the Tshwane University of Technology where he trained with Mr. Thamisanqa Zungu and graduated Cum Laude for his Bachelor of Music. He also holds a B.A. Honours in Arts, Culture and Heritage Management and a Master of Art in Cultural Policy and Management both obtained from The University of the Witwatersrand. During his studies, he took part in the school productions and played a role of Ramiro in (La Cenerentola)- Rossini (2014) as well as the production by W.A Mozart Così fan tutte (2015) where he played a leading role of Ferrando. He deems his voice as the prime asset that sets him apart and has been working as a professional artist for over 10 years. He sang Libiamo with the world renowned Pretty Yende in 2014 at the Linder Auditorium. He also sung on more than 400 shows in Greece where he was based for 2 years as an in-house soloist with Remarc International, and also participated at the local singing competition (Greece Got Talent). Not only is he a freelance artist but also works as an art manager in the public sector and has done so for more than 5 years, within the cultural and creative industries.

They haveamassed over 80 years of collective experience performing in South Africa and around the world. Brass Collective programmes are formulated to educate, entertain and inform, and are suitable for all ages of audience and fans of a diverse cross-section of genres. The members of Brass Collective are on a constant look-out for new music written by young and established South African composers, both to continue a legacy of world-class compositions and also to inspire and attract young composers into writing for brass instrumentalists. Philip Cox is one of the most active cross-genre instrumentalists in South Africa. “Top Drawer”, his debut album, has outstripped it’s classical and many of its contemporary competitors in album sales. It was nominated for a Libera Award by the American Association of Independent Music in 2015. Philip has commissioned four new works for Trumpet and Orchestra, which will be featured on “Vanguard”, his new album, to be released mid-2017. Philip, along with colleague Tim Roberts, recently co-commissioned composer Paul Hanmer to write a Requiem Mass for Chorus, Orchestra, and Soloists, which will be premiered in June of 2017. Alex Urban is Principal Trumpet of the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra. He has toured nationally and to the Far East on frequent occasions with stage shows that originated here in South Africa. Alex is a regular member of the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra. Chris Bishop is an experienced musician, teacher, and ensemble and performance coach. Born in England, he studied at Trinity College of Music, London, and has been Co-Principal Horn with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra since he moved to South Africa in 2007. In 2013 Chris was appointed Principal of the Cape Gate MIAGI Centre for Music in Soweto. Justin Sasman was Co-Principal Trombone of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra until 2010 when he accepted the position as Head of Brass at St John&’s College, Johannesburg. He is now a lecturer in Brass Studies at The University of the North West in Potchefstroom. Justin is a regular performer with orchestras and bands in Gauteng and can often be seen on stage with Bombshelter Beast and the Jägermeister Brass Cartel. Danél Mecloen has been the Principal Tuba player for the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra since 2006. Along with maintaining a busy performing career Danél teaches brass instruments and piano at St Katherine’s and the Ridge Schools. She has been a regular performer for the SA National Youth Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic, and the KZN Philharmonic Orchestras. She completed her Master’s Degree in Brass Studies in 2007.
