Nicole Bessick has taken SA’s entertainment industry by storm. The Actress, Celebrity Boxing Champion, and Marie Claire Future Shaper has a list of accolades that would make any overachiever jealous.
She got her big break in the locally produced and internationally acclaimed crime thriller “Cold Harbour”, screened at the Cannes, Berlin and Los Angeles film festivals. She then went on to feature in the Netflix hit ‘Black Mirror’ and Investigation Discovery’s ‘Killer Instinct’. South African audiences will know her best for her work as Chloe on the hit ETV SAFTA-nominated telenovela, ‘Broken Vows’.
She’s not just a pretty face and holds an Honours Degree from UCT, specializing in Intellectual Property.
“Bessick never backs down from a challenge.”
After being challenged by her opponent to compete in the annual Celebrity Boxing Event, she accepted and joined the line-up as one half of the first female celebrity boxing match on the continent. The purpose of the fight is to raise awareness around the bullying epidemic in South Africa.
Being a victim of bullying herself, the cause was one that hit close to home. Going up against an experienced opponent, she dedicated herself to training as a professional boxer. Her journey to the belt was one that defied all odds and after a gruelling three rounds, she has crowned the #BullyProof champion by way of unanimous decision.
Bessick is now a proud anti-bullying spokesperson for the Jag Foundation, a charity that utilizes sport as a catalyst for social change in disadvantaged communities. Her efforts earned her, her rightful spot as a Marie Claire Future Shaper.
