In Kempton Park the traditional Afrikaans way of living was a good life. Your mother’s breast milk would be brannewyn en coke, you would walk kaalvoet to school, and you’d hide your lunch money when a black man walked past. His family and friends stood back as they watched Schalk evolve from an Afrikaans conservative caterpillar into a beautiful dramaqueen butterfly, complete with a moustache and furry afro. It was obvious to Schalk’s parents that he would study drama, and to help numb the pain they sent him away to study at the University of Cape Town. While studying in Cape Town Schalk slowly began to realise that there was so much more to life than boerewors and rugby, and started doing stand-up in April 2011. On stage Schalk is fun and energetic and appeals to people of all kinds and colours. Schalk has come a far way in the short amount of time that he has been doing comedy. He has had the privelage to perform at some great venues, alongside some even greater comedians. TESTIMONIALS “He was FABULOUS and we loved him – thank you!” – Jane, Tech News

- Lewis Pugh (UK)
Business Speaker // coach // Corporate Events // Motivational Speaker // Speaker // Speakers < Back Lewis Pugh (UK) ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in First Name Email Phone Submit Select a date Last Name Company Event details International LEWIS IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S LEADING INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKERS He undertakes over 100 speeches a year to companies and organizations around the world. Lewis is the only person to have completed a long distance swim in every ocean of the world. To date he has pioneered more swims around famous landmarks than any other swimmer in history. Each of these seemingly impossible feats was done to raise awareness about the vulnerability of our oceans and their importance to humanity. And he’s not finished yet.I began swimming in vulnerable ecosystems to draw attention to the impact of our actions on our oceans. I saw enormous chunks of ice slide off Arctic glaciers. I swam over bleached coral killed by rising sea temperatures, and over the bones of whales hunted to the edge of extinction. I visited lakes high in the Himalayas where once there was only ice. I saw plastic pollution in the most remote parts of the oceans, and garbage piling up so thick on city beaches that you can no longer see the sand. I’ve witnessed drastic changes in my lifetime – changes that have come about because of our actions. I soon realized that it would require a different kind of action to bring about the changes needed to protect our vulnerable natural resources. And so I began talking – to national and citizen leaders, to policymakers, environmentalists, scientists, and the media. Soon I was traveling more than I was swimming; people started calling what I do ‘Speedo diplomacy’. I’ve been privileged to be a part of some positive changes. And to share my stories so that people realize that we all have it within us to make a difference. I’ve shared my dream of oceans that are abundant with life, full of dolphins and whales, of penguins and sea birds, of turtles and manta rays. I’ve shared my belief that we can restore the health of the oceans; that it’s up to every one of us to protect our future. Why do I do what I do? I do it because I believe in protecting our fragile planet, in peace and injustice. I do it because it’s right. I do it because our souls need nature. And I do it as much for nature’s sake as for ours. TESTIMONIALS The dreams, the hardships, and the sheer heart behind Lewis’s expeditions will inspire you to rethink your own ‘impossible’. JACK CANFIELD – CO-AUTHOR | CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL Lewis’s speeches are riveting and passionate. He’s stunning! ARCHBISHOP DESMOND TUTU – NOBEL PEACE LAUREATE

Explore our musicians bookings to find the perfect talent that will elevate your event to the next level < Back ARTIST ENQUIRY I am interested in Select a date First Name Last Name Email Company Phone Submit Event details Qadasi & Maqhinga Kwazulu Natal Hailing from Empangeni in the heart of Zululand, Qadasi and Maqhinga are an acoustic duo on a quest to revive the powerful sounds of traditional Maskandi music. Both professional musicians in their own right and sharing the same vision, joining forces has resulted in an international caliber of music which represents the heart and soul of South African roots music. David Jenkins, also known as Qadasi, is an accomplished Maskandi guitarist, concertina, banjo player and vocalist who developed a deep passion for Zulu culture and music at a young age while traveling through Zululand with his late father who was a journalist. This interest grew exponentially over the years, and as a result, his love for traditional music was born. After matriculating in 2010, Qadasi released his first studio album under the record label, Sande Entertainment headed by Sibongiseni Shabalala of a five-time Grammy Award-winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. His second album, released in 2014, was nominated for a SAMA (South African Music Award) and SATMA (South African Traditional Music Award). In 2015, Qadasi was honoured to receive a KwaZulu Natal Young Achievers Award for ‘social cohesion through Maskandi music.’Maqhinga Radebe’s career launched in the mid-’90s after being given the opportunity to tour the USA with Ladysmith Black Mambazo as part of the stage play, Nomathemba. On his return to South Africa, Maqhinga formed the group, Shabalala Rhythm, alongside Sibongiseni and Thamsanqa Shabalala. Thanks to the subsequent popularity of the group, Maqhinga’s talent was brought to the spotlight, making him a prominent and highly respected artist in the Maskandi industry. With five solo albums under his name, Maqhinga has received numerous awards for his amazing musical skills, which also include SAMA and SATMA Award nominations.Well-traveled, he has performed to audiences around the world and has shared stages with a number of highly acclaimed artists such as Hugh Masekela, Oliver Mtukudzi, and Soul Brothers, to name a few. David first met Maqhinga in Durban in 2010 when enquiring about a concertina tuner. After a ‘jam session’, thus began their story and the two have become firm friends, with Maqhinga taking the role of music director and producer of David’s first solo projects. The talented musicians later decided to join forces after realizing the musical potential that was possible by combining their artistry. Over the past several years, the two of them have traveled home and abroad with their eclectic fusion, taking it to audiences in the UK, Europe, Asia, and throughout South Africa. In 2016 they released their debut collaborative album titled, Lashis’ Ilanga, which was later nominated for a 2017 SAMA Award for Best Traditional Album. After teaming up with their full band, in December 2019 Qadasi and Maqhinga released their long-awaited sophomore album titled, Ungabanaki, which captures the essence of Maskandi music while exploring the crossover of traditional and western styles. Aside from promoting Zulu culture, traditional music, and social cohesion, the duo has also been actively involved in rhino conservation, working alongside the Kingsley Holgate Foundation and Project Rhino KZN as rhino ambassadors. There is much excitement in the promise of what lies ahead for this Maskandi duo which is continuing in the footsteps of this powerful genre’s icons.
